CLASS OF 2025:

In order to graduate, you must complete your 18 compulsory credits, 12 elective credits, and 40 community service hours. (These hours need to be submitted, approved, and entered by our Guidance Team. Do not leave these to the last minute in June or you may risk not graduating!) Grade 12's .... Join the USS Grade 12's Google Classroom for up-to-date notifications of events, dates, deadlines, etc. If you aren't already in the Class of 2025 GC, please contact Mrs. Ridgway.

(These hours need to be submitted, approved, and entered by our Guidance Team. Do not leave these to the last minute in June or you may risk not graduating!)

*All USS students should be in Guidance Google Classrooms specific to their grade. This is key to say up-to-date, have access to important links, and get notifications of events, dates, deadline, etc. If you aren't already in yours, please contact your guidance counsellor.

 A resource created by the DDSB annually to help you plan your high school career, graduation, and post graduation destination.
 Apprenticeships
 The Ontario Skilled Trades site
 Ontario Colleges
ontariocolleges.ca is where you will find extensive details about Ontario college programs. Don't forget that many colleges offer degree and collaborative programs (diploma + degree) as well as certificates, diplomas, and advanced diplomas (3 yrs.). This site is used for research and to complete your application.
 Ontario Universities Information
ontariouniversitiesinfo.ca is where you will find extensive details about Ontario university programs, pre-requisite courses, anticipated cut-off averages, etc. All Ontario degree programs will require students to have 6 Gr 12 U or M courses, including ENG4U1. This site is for research only!
 Ontario University Fair
 Get information about many different Ontario universities in one location.
 OUAC
This is where you will complete your Ontario university application. As a current USS student, you will need a PIN to complete this application. The USS Guidance Office will receive and distribute the PINs by mid-November.
 What do I do with a degree in ...
Investigate suggested career opportunities given different degree majors. This is very helpful when your thoughts are ... "I love __________, but I'm not sure what kind of job I could get with that degree."
 OnTransfer
Did you know that you could do 2 to 3 years of college and then transfer directly into a university degree, maybe right into 3rd year of a 4 year degree? Look into various transfer agreements between Ontario college and universities with this link.
 Inclusive Education
If you are living with learning challenges that limit diploma or degree options, and you would like to explore programs such as "Community Integration Through Cooperative Education", then this is the link for you!
 Employment Help

 Scholarships and Awards
 

For access to scholarship opportunities across Canada ... do the following:

  • PLEASE CHECK THE USS GR. 12'S GOOGLE CLASSROOM for local scholarship applications.

  • Issues of The Scholarship Report, a THOROUGH resource of opportunities, deadlines, and tips will be shared both through parent email and through the USS Grade 12's Google Classroom

  • Some scholarships require a school nomination. This process starts in October, information will be posted in the Grade 12 Google Classroom

  • sign up on Scholarships Canada for additional information about hundreds of scholarship and bursary information. It's soooo easy! You create a profile and then the site sends you links to relevant opportunities

  • COMMENCEMENT AWARDS - applications for school graduation awards will be posted on the USS Gr 12's Google Classroom in the spring:

    • We have an extremely generous community and we want as many of you to receive financial assistance/awards as possible. In order to be considered for ANY of our commencement awards, all you have to do is fill out the Commencement Award Google Form (link coming soon!). There will be two links below .... one to give you information about making a copy of the Instructions form so that you can take your time writing detailed answers. The second will be the application form itself. If you take your time with the first form, you just need to copy and paste the longer answers to the second form.

    • One application = consideration for ALL awards. The list of awards is still being finalized, so it is not being posted at this time. Regardless, everyone should apply. There are awards for all kinds of career pathways, destinations, involvement, etc. SO APPLY!! EVERYONE!!! :)

  • Student can also apply for the Letter U, a non-monetary award that recognizes student participation in school activities along with academic performance. The application will be posted in April.

Study and Go Abroad

There is usually an International University and Student Travel Expo in mid-October each year at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre - free admission! For more information at anytime of the year, check out www.studyandgoabroad.com.

 

Student Life Expo

Many East Coast and West Coast Universities are represented at this. October 27th, 2024 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It's free if you register at www.studentlifeexpo.com or $10 at the door.
